i went to a conference in lakewood california where michael miller talked about spiritual gifts. in hindsight, he talked and looked exactly like a teacher from my high school named ben myers (whose pastoral advisor care team i was in). he talked about the gift of prophesy and encouraged us to steward this gift.
as an exercise, we were told to prophesy to someone we didn't know. i teamed up with a guy called joel. i had the image of him going hiking, driving an f150, and briefly crashing only to have went back to the hiking. he had the feeling he loved doing outdoor activities and had a job that required physical labor, but he turned out to be a bible translator of some sort. it was funny because i did correctly see him going hiking since he went to guatemala not too long ago to hike with his sisters, and regarding the physical activity part he will be going to africa to do ministry which probably entailed physical activity. he just say images of me on a roller coaster and smiling.
when asked if the congregation had a surprising revelation, he didn't raise his hand and neither did i. i thought my image of the hiking was pretty cool, but perhaps he didn't.
